Winter
For this Winter season 2011/12, RMASC is working with Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard School and the Canmore Nordic Centre to provide opportunities for individuals with a disability to enjoy Alpine and Nordic snow sports in the Bow Valley.
So whether its downhill skiing, snowboarding or nordic skiing that you would like to try; whether you’re an expert or a complete beginner, there is a product for you to enjoy.
Rocky Mountain Adaptive Sports Centre and its partners provide trained and certified Instructors and Volunteers to help you achieve all your goals in the mountains. We endeavor to provide a wonderful experience to any individual who has the desire to get out and have a go at snowsports this Winter. The promotion of independence in all activities is encouraged to its fullest. We adapt equipment, techniques, and presentation of instruction wherever needed, relevant to each individual needs.
RMASC is a Not for Profit Organization and wherever possible our product pricing reflects this. This could not be done without the generosity of our sponsors and partners, including Sunshine Village and the Canmore Nordic Centre.
Skiing/Snowboarding:
10 Week Therapeutic Ski and Ride Program
Location: Sunshine Village, Banff, Alberta, Canada
Would you or someone you know like to join a fun packed ski or snowboard program this Winter? The program runs for 10 consecutive weeks and gives time to not only learn new skills but be able to develop them over time. Registration to the program guarantees ten 2 hour private lessons either on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday starting in January and ending in March (there is no lesson on Family Day Weekend). The lessons are taught by specially trained adaptive instructors who are eager to help you learn and enjoy skiing or snowboarding to the fullest. This program is for any child to young adult, and will cater for complete beginners, black run enthusiasts, or anyone in between.
A number of different organizations donate to this program to help keep costs as low as possible, with Sunshine Village donating lift tickets, RMASC coordinating hours, Gear Up (in Canmore) and Ultimate Ski and Ride (in Banff) donating rental equipment. There is also funding available to help cover the costs of registration if needed.
