GOLF
Run by: Silvertip Golf Club/RMASC

Overview:
The ‘Little Pitchers’ Golf program is a six-week program designed to teach kids with physical, cognitive and developmental impairments how to play golf in the beautiful setting of Silvertip Golf Course. Children will receive golf tuition from Silvertip golf pros, with support from trained volunteers, plus the use of the spectacular Silvertip Golf Course. The program is designed to introduce golf and/or improve skills to any child with a disability.
TENNIS

Overview:
For one of our new programs this Summer, James Tomkys, a Tennis Coach and Ski Instructor for RMASC, will lead our tennis program. James and RMASC Volunteers will introduce the fun sport of tennis to all kids who want to try. The instruction and environment will not only encourage achievable results, but enable your child to be physically active outside, learn and enhance valuable hand-eye coordination skills, and have fun in a social and non-competitive setting. No equipment or prior skills are necessary for this program, and places are offered to the complete beginner, to the accomplished player and to everyone in between.
KAYAKING
Run by: Bow Valley Kayak Club/RMASC
Venue: Canmore Rec Centre

Overview:
RMASC has partnered with the Bow Valley Kayak Club to offer this unique adaptive learn to kayak program. A Bow Valley Kayak Club Instructor and trained RMASC volunteers provide tuition and support in the water allowing children and teens to kayak or canoe. In order to provide the safest setting, these lessons will be pool based, with the aim of progressing onto a lake for the 4th session (ability/weather and time permitting – this will be decided at a later date and may incur an additional cost). Numbers for this program are limited so sign up fast to avoid disappointment!
MOUNTAIN BIKING

Overview:
The RMASC Mountain Bike Club provides children of different abilities the chance to explore the area around Canmore whilst
enjoying mountain bike adventures with other kids and RMASC staff/volunteers. The five sessions include time in Skills Parks, the Nordic centre and the basic trails around the area. This program does not teach new biking skills, but rather provides an environment for kids to enjoy mountain biking and the outdoors whilst building friendships and confidence. An ability to ride a bike to a basic standard is required. For any interested individuals who do not own a bike, please let us know and we will do what we can to help.
HIKING/NATURE CLUB

Overview:
Similar to the mountain bike program, the RMASC Hiking and Nature Club is designed to promote socialization between the participants by setting an atmosphere of adventure and exploration, as the team go ‘into the wild’ on hiking and nature trails. Supported by RMASC Staff, volunteers and any willing parents, the hiking club trips will will last for the day, and upon return your kids should sleep very well! Please provide a picnic lunch for your children.
FRISBEE GOLF

Overview:
This five-session program, run by RMASC, is designed to provide the opportunity for kids to learn and improve their skills in the fun game of Frisbee Golf. The children learn the rules, techniques, and get lots of practice at this simple game. Kids spend their time enjoying the outdoors with the spectacular backdrop of the mountains behind them.
SWIMMING

Overview:
This is a social swim club open to all children of mixed abilities. RMASC staff and volunteers supervise and encourage fun in the pool, creating an environment for the children to socialize and improve their confidence in water. Though swim technique will not be specifically taught, time in the pool amongst peers will improve each individuals ability to swim. This is not a lane swim environment, but rather, a time for game playing and bonding.
